The following are testimonials from constables who are current members of the Niagara Regional Police Service, and wished to express the positive experiences they've had with our Service.

Constable Robin Bleich

"I have to say,  being one of the youngest  members of the Niagara Regional Service has had it's moments of intimidation.  I figured due to my age I would have some large obstacles to overcome.  The way I see it, having the right amount of determination, and effort put into an action based plan made all the difference. I went out and sought what could better myself as an individual and as a potential candidate for the service; and as a result I am where I am through the help of others and experience obtained through a desired action plan.

As many are, I became fixated with the idea of becoming a police officer in highschool; having taken the 'Occupation Interest' quiz through the provided career counselors at the St. Catharines Collegiate Highschool, it confirmed my belief that this is what I wanted to do.  It was then I needed to begin addressing my future and gear towards my new founded career.

I continued my education through Niagara College, and enrolled in Police foundations program.  It was then I realized that sitting in a room of approximately 200 other students that wanted to become Police officer's I needed to do more.   I graduated College with the President's Honour Award, as well as an award for Excellence in Report Writing and Conflict Management.  I lived my outside life vicariously through different volunteer organizations as well; just to obtain different experiences.  The one I would recommend any interested candidate would be the Niagara Regional Police Auxiliary.  It was through the NRPA that I met a lot of the service's members, and received training that one couldn't receive elsewhere.

The process itself was intimidating, but if one prepares themselves to the fullest, they can take advantage of their capabilities regardless of their, age, gender or ethnicity.  The service demonstrates no bias or prejudice and provides an equal opportunity for anyone who wishes to become Police Officers.  The largest obstacle is grasping your own confidence and utilizing in advance before applying.  Myself, amongst many other Police Constables within the service represent a  portion of diversity the Niagara Regional Police Service represents within the community, as part of the Niagara Region."

Constable Martyn Rosborough

"I have been in law enforcement for over 15 years.  Most recently, prior to joining the Niagara Regional Police Service I was a Constable with the Greater Toronto Transit Authority for 6 years.  I am a graduate of a Police Foundations program and have extensive training in Community Policing.

My decision to join the Niagara Regional Police Service came after over a year of researching most of the police services in Southern Ontario.  Being from the Aboriginal Community, I can truly appreciate Niagara Regional Police Service's diversity and its commitment to the people it serves.

The hiring process was intensive and very challenging.  It took over 6 months and required a total commitment.  The Training Unit was completely prepared and gave me the tools and knowledge required to work in the field with my Coach Officer.  Working as a Police Officer for the Niagara Regional Police Service is rewarding and satisfying.  I look forward to a long and fulfilling career with the Niagara Regional Police Service."

Constable Dave Sinclair

"I would like to take this opportunity to express to any future candidate who is considering entering into the vocation of policing to consider the professionalism, camaraderie, opportunity, and proud traditions, held in high esteem by the Niagara Regional Police Service.

Recently being hired by the Service and graduating with 450 other recruit officers from the Ontario Police College, I can speak of the pride I felt knowing that I was a new member of not only a police service, but also one considered to be the best among my peers.

I knew I joined the right Service from the day I was sworn in.  The camaraderie and team atmosphere I experienced was one which motivated me to learn and want to excel in the profession.  Training is of the highest standard.  Newly hired members are sworn in as Cadet Officers and undergo a two week training period in the Service's Training Unit.  After this time, the member is assigned to one of the three major Districts where they are assigned to a shift and shadow train with currently serving officers.  I enjoyed the Cadet Program as it better prepared me for the Ontario Police College.

The Niagara Regional Police Service demands of its officers to become complete, fully experienced, mature Constables.  The Service places high demands on its members which assists in their maturing into a quality officer.  NRPS members become officers who are sought after to be the leaders of tomorrow.  I have lived in the Niagara Region all my life and know that the Service offers its members opportunity to work in one of the most beautiful areas of Canada.  The Region is diverse, resulting in the need for the Service to maintain 45 specialty units.  Units such as the ETU, Marine Unit, Casino Unit, and exchange programs with the RCMP are just some of the opportunities afforded to NRPS members.  The service is renewing itself and in coming years there will be a lot of opportunity for promotion, experience and career advancement.

I am not unlike many other candidates who applied to police services across Ontario.  I worked hard to improve my resume in many areas and improve my chances of being hired and become a police officer.  I would recommend anyone who seriously considers a future in the vocation of policing to consider serving with a police service which not only has the values of Unity, Responsibility, and Loyalty as their motto, but also creates an atmosphere which inspires officers to live up to them and excel to be the best."
