Being selected
for a position with the Niagara Regional Police
Service requires you to provide accurate
information, successful completion of testing,
interviews and examinations. The Selection
Process consists of these phases:
- Submission of current, valid
Ontario Association of Chief's of Police (OACP) testing
certificate as obtained through Applicant Testing Services.
An appointment for obtaining the certificate may be made by
contacting Applicant Testing Services at 1-800-429-7728, or
you may access their web site at www.applicanttesting.com
and register for testing online.
Applicants should note that the Niagara Regional Police
Service adheres to principles adopted by the Constable
Selection System, including standards and timelines relevant
to the currency of tests, and restrictions associated with
repetition of tests -- including testing components associated
with OACP certificate, visual acuity standards and surgery,
and psychological testing.
- Submission of Application Form /
Resume, valid CPR and First Aid certificate Level C with our OACP
certificate.
- Screening of Applicant Files
- Local Focused Interview
This interview will be conducted by a panel consisting of two
(2) Service members. The interview questions and scoring
are based on predetermined competencies or qualities essential
to the Police Constable position.
- Essential Competency Interview (Behavioural Interview Based)
The interview will be conducted by a panel consisting of 2
Service members.
- Psychological Testing - MMP1 and a clinical interview with a psychologist. Results
from other services may be considered.
Note: shelf life of MMP1-2 is one year, whether
administered at Niagara or elsewhere.
Re-test: must wait one year
- Background investigation and
reference checks
During this phase, documents submitted will be verified, as
well as information supplied by you in prior phases.
Previous employers and personal references will be contacted
to further assess your suitability.
- Comprehensive medical
examination
The successful candidates will be offered employment
conditional upon the successful completion of a comprehensive
medical examination. A physician appointed by the
Service will conduct these tests.
