What is the Finance Unit?

The Finance Unit provides efficient, effective and economical administrative, financial and payroll processes for the employees of the Niagara Regional Police Service.  This unit provides oversight, administrative support and leadership in the area of Fleet and Supply programs, as well as Facility Management.  The goal of Facility Management is to address facility related issues, and meet the needs of various units identified in the Organizational Chart.  You can view the Organizational Chart by clicking HERE.

Objectives of the Finance Unit

  1. Payroll and Timekeeping: On a weekly basis process all related information received through data input on the Ross Payroll System, and ensure the weekly payment of all eligible members
  2. Accounts Payable/Receivable/Management of False Alarms: On a daily/as required basis, process the payment/invoicing of goods and services received/provided by members of the NRPS as authorized by appropriate Supervisors and documentation.
  3. Financial/GEAC Development: Continued involvement with system development, training and implementation of the Region's new General Ledger and Accounting System.
  4. Financial Reporting: To provide responsive and timely financial information to Police Services Board, Senior Management staff on all NRPS financial/administrative issues.
  5. Payroll/HRIS System Improvements: Participate with Regional initiative to represent NRPS needs and to assist in the implementation of a new system.
  6. Staff Development: To encourage personal and professional development through regular evaluations, staff meeting and Regional interaction in related office functions.
  7. Internal Surveys/Customer Service: To respond to all related inquiries within an appropriate period of time.
