Uniform Patrol Officers are the most
visible members of the Niagara Regional Police Service, and are
commonly the first line of contact with members of the public.
Uniform Patrol Officers interact formally and informally with the
community to provide assistance, information, advise, and education
that promotes public safety and awareness.

When responding to assigned calls for
service and performing routine patrol, these officers confront and
resolve emergency and non-emergency situations daily. They
enforce laws, investigate offences, and (when appropriate) arrest
offenders, lay informations, and prepare cases for court. At
all times, they conduct themselves in a manner that protects lives
and property, maintains order and provides assistance to those in
need.
The experience and
training gained as a Uniform Patrol Officer is fundamental to virtually
every other police position or rank in the Niagara Regional Police
Service. Most officers begin their careers in this position,
and carry the experience and qualifications gained in this position
to other units of the NRPS. They serve as the backbone of the
Niagara Regional Police Service, and are the core of our
organization.
