Personal Equipment - NRPS divers utilize both open circuit SCUBA and surface-supplied air systems depending on the nature of the operation. Each diver is issued with the following personal equipment:

  • AGA positive pressure full face mask
  • Viking heavy duty (HD) dry suit
  • OMS 100lb lift back mounted BCD/back pack
  • 80 cu/ft aluminium cylinder
  • 30 cu/ft aluminium bail-out cylinder
  • 2 - US Divers Arctic first stage regulators
  • Kirby Morgan bail-out block
  • Wenoka laser knife
  • Harness mounted cutting tool
  • 5 point diving harness
  • Weight belt and ankle weights
  • Pelican SWAT light Tenders knife and Leatherman tool
  • Mustang "Industrial" PFD Mustang bomber style floater coat


Constable Rick Storm prepares to search a hydro channel for a missing person presumed drowned. Attached to his full face mask is a video camera connected to a topside monitor.


Training includes the use of the SuperLite 17B and 27B helmets. Senior Diver Jim Purdie completes winter search pattern training in the Welland Canal.
