Inform neighbours of your departure and return dates and leave a number where you can be reached in case of emergency. Have your neighbour pick up newspapers and mail. Arrange for trimming of the lawn and clearing of the walkways. Small valuables should be stored in a safety deposit box. Use clock timers that activate lights or radios at intervals to give the impression that someone is home. Before leaving, ensure all entries are secure.
