In order to provide opportunities for advancement within the organization, the Niagara Regional Police Service provides an officer to facilitate internal job posting competitions, the hiring of special constables and coordinating the promotional processes. This office is staffed by a Staff Sergeant who is accountable for ensuring fair and equitable processes for all members involved in lateral and upward job competitions. This officer is also responsible for counselling officers who are engaged in their own succession planning. This office ensures that all sworn members are aware of the Police Service’s objectives as they relate to the academic, experiential, training and diversification components of each officer’s career.
