Sgt Jeff Hopkins and PSD Bosco, PSD Duke.

Sergeant Hopkins is a thirty year veteran of the Niagara Regional Police Service. He has been a member of the K9 unit since 1989 and has recently completed training his third patrol dog. His responsibilities include the training and maintenance of our K9 Unit, and the bi-annual certification of our teams. He has had the opportunity to train throughout North America and has assisted a private company with the training of mine detection dogs in Bosnia, Herzegovina. Several other police agencies in Canada and the United States rely on Sergeant Hopkins and the Niagara Regional Police Service K9 Unit for their training and certification.

Sergeant Hopkins is responsible for the care and deployment of PSD Duke. Duke is a seven year old yellow Labrador retriever used solely for narcotic detection. Duke is often used to conduct narcotic searches at schools in the Niagara region and to execute search warrants. 

 


K91 - Constable Pam Carter and PSD Scout

PC Carter is a nineteen year member of the Niagara Regional Police Service. Her previous experience has included the uniform branch and the intelligence unit. She has been a member of the K9 Unit since July 2001.

Scout is a four year old black and tan German Shepherd that was imported from Czechoslovakia.

 


 


 

K92 - Constable Dave Bridel and PSD Ranger

PC Bridel is an nine year member of the Niagara Regional Police Service. His previous experience includes the uniform branch and the criminal investigation unit.

He has been a member of the K9 Unit since 2002.

Ranger is a three year old sable German Shepherd that we purchased from an outside police agency.

 


Constable McGregor and PSD Titan

PC McGregor is an eight year member of the Niagara Regional Police Service.  His previous experience includes the uniform branch and criminal investigations section.

PSD Titan is a two year old German Shepard imported from Czechoslovakia.  Titan is also trained for narcotics detection.

 


 


 

Constable Jake Grant and PSD Mashal

PC Grant is a four year member of the Niagara Regional Police Service.  His previous experience includes the uniform branch.

PSD Marshal is a two year old German Shepard imported from Czechoslovakia.

 


K95 – Constable Barry Wills and PSD Mako

PC Wills is a seven year member of the Niagara Regional Police Service. His previous experience is with the uniform branch.

PSD Mako is a three year old, long haired black and tan German Shepherd that is trained in explosives. He was also imported from Hungary.

 


 


 

K96 – Constable Ray Aceti and PSD Storm

PC Aceti is a five year member of the Niagara Regional Police Service. His previous experience is with the uniform branch.

PSD Storm is a two year old sable German Shepherd imported from Czechoslovakia. This team has recently been cross-trained for narcotics.
