Anonymous
Reporting Program
Working
in the sex trade makes you a vulnerable target,
and predators count on the fact you are not likely to
report any crimes against you.
The
Bad Date Line is used to help identify and track
serial and predatory offenders |
WHAT IS IT?
Working in the
sex trade can be dangerous. When Dates go wrong, you may not
feel like you can report it, or even want to talk to the
police. Anonymous and free, the Bad Date Line gives you an
opportunity to report major offences like sexual and
physical assault, without revealing your identity.
WHO IS IT
FOR?
Whether you work
in the sex trade on the street, at home, in a club, massage
parlour or are a street person or homeless, you can use the
Bad Date Line.
HOW DOES IT
WORK?
By calling the
toll free number, 1-888-818-4808, you will be prompted to leave a message on
an answering machine regarding the following: details of the
assault along with as much offender description possible
i.e.: name (if known), physical descriptors, tattoos,
ethnicity etc.; vehicle description, license plate number,
color, make and model; city, location and date of offence.
WHY?
Information
gathered could be the missing link needed in identifying a
serial predator. Working in the sex trade makes you a
vulnerable target, and they count on the fact you are not
likely to report any crimes against you. The information you
give will be tracked on a database maintained
within the Niagara Regional Police Service, Investigative
Analysis Unit. The Bad
Date Line does not subscribe to caller ID and no attempts
will be made to identify callers.
